GRATEFUL or WOKEFUL?
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Thanksgiving? Is it the joy (or fretfulness) of gathering with loved-ones? Is it the mouth-watering thoughts of a lavish spread of food that we gobble down (excuse the pun), while looking forward to left-overs? Is it preparing a strategy of in-person shopping on Black Friday (we can still say black Friday, can’t we?) Is it the lengthy to-do list in preparing for meals and guests? Is it the binge-fest of watching football games? Or, is it something else…perhaps reflection with a thankful heart?
Gratitude and thankfulness are feelings or expressions of appreciation and/or indebtedness for something or someone. Gratitude seems to have a more lingering affect than thankfulness, since it is something on which we ponder long after the incident that caused it. Regardless, both are great qualities to exercise as often as we can.
“Always give thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 5:20
So the thought comes to mind, do far left-leaning “wokesters” view Thanksgiving with gratitude? Do they take time to express thanks for their blessings? And, what are those blessings for which they might be thankful? Here’s a possible list of their perceived blessings:
1. They are thankful that the Biden administration continues to make responsible tax-paying citizens pay for the irresponsible people who have student loan debt. This SAVE plan includes approving $127 billion in relief for nearly 3.6 million borrowers. When did we get to a place where you blatantly place your financial mis-steps and burdens on others and be thankful of such?
2. They are thankful that abortion is legal, with no restrictions, in eight states in the US. Additionally, in twenty more states abortion is legal with some restrictions. Twenty-one states have banned abortion after 6-18 weeks, while the remaining four states have their abortion laws still pending in the courts. Bottom line, too many people are celebrating and being thankful for the war against life of the innocent unborn. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2023/nov/10/state-abortion-laws-us
3. While repeated efforts to eradicate free speech in America, the ignorant leftists are thankful for exercising their free-speech rights to non-peacefully march in our cities denouncing Israel and siding with Hamas, who will use any means possible to annihilate all Jews. Of course, the majority of these protesters don’t have a clue about the facts of who Hamas is. And, many of these protesters are from the LBGTQ+++ community. Perhaps if they feel so strongly about backing Hamas, they should leave America and go hang out with Hamas and see how long it takes to be thrown off a building for being part of the “alphabet soup” group.
“You are descendants of the prophets. You have received the agreement God made with your ancestors. He said to your father Abraham, ‘Through your descendants all the nations on the earth will be blessed.’” Acts 3:25
4. They are thankful for the current administration’s refusal to close and protect our borders from all aliens who illegally enter our country. Many of these folks have been blatantly invited by our president to come to America where they can engage in drug trafficking, child sex trafficking, gang activity, terrorist activity, and flood our cities without a place to live or work. But, not to worry, these illegals are thankful because they are given lavish benefits of housing, food, clothing, phones, and a monthly stipend…all on our tax-payer dollars. Yet, now that the numbers are exceeding what the left thought possible, liberal community leaders are not so thankful now. Hmm, I wonder why?
5. They are thankful because there remains a high number of school districts that allow and promote socialist curricula, like CRT, and destroy lives of children through gender-studies even before they have learned multiplication and division, all while leaving parents in the dark. We would be more than grateful if we had elected officials who would adopt universal school choice policies and get rid of the federal Department of Education so that our students could actually learn to read, write, learn math, learn about civics, and learn problem solving skills. This could become a reality through elections and much prayer.
6. They are thankful that so many Soros’-backed district attorneys, city and county council members, and registrar of voters who are running and ruining our communities. They love that corruption continues to flow, rampant crime is ignored, and that fraud in our elections will continue…or will it? Again, we need to exercise all of our options to reverse these trends, and of course, pray!
7. They are thankful that the current administration is pulling out all the stops to rid all fossil fuels. Yes, they are thankful for these insane policies, but will they be thankful if this does come to complete fruition? When the reality finally sinks in that these “green” energy methods and devices require fossil fuels in their production, what will they think then? What will they do when our landfills are loaded with used up solar panels and windmills? What will they do when they can no longer get electricity into their homes because natural gas (which the left wants to abolish) is necessary in the generation and production of electricity? Think of it, no heat, no lights, and hundreds of electric vehicles sitting in driveways. I guess this is the result of a few decades of dumbing down of America in our schools that has brought us to this point. Could all of this ignorance and dismantling of our nation be a result of our turning our backs on God?
“Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,” Acts 17:30
Well, enough of Thanksgiving from a “woke” point of view. It’s time to begin preparing this Thanksgiving meal, as well as our hearts for reflective gratitude. We have so many blessings about which to be thankful, it would be a joy to declare just a few of them. First and foremost, we have a God who loves us and wants the best for us now, and for all eternity. This is something about which we should ponder with gratitude each day of the year.
We are thankful that we still live in a Republic that has a Constitution based on Godly principles allowing us freedoms that many nations sadly do not have. The challenge is to keep our republic and ensure that our leaders will be obedient to the Constitution, as well as God’s laws.
We are thankful that we can associate with a community of like-minded conservative and common-sense citizens who love God and love our country. We have been and continue to be in a battle that, with God’s help, can be won. We just need to remain courageous, diligent, hard-working, and faithful that He will guide us to victory. May God bless you, your family and friends, and may God bless America! Be thankful on this Thanksgiving and every day!
